The Progress Mandate wishes to raise a timely alarm over a dangerous ploy to destabilise the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State.
Since the assumption of office by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), Ekiti State has enjoyed an uninterrupted reign of peace, tranquility, and stability, making our state the most peaceful in the federation. This enviable achievement is the product of deliberate, inclusive governance and a leadership style rooted in humility, fairness, and unity. For almost three years, Ekiti people have lived under this atmosphere of harmony, with BAO rightly acknowledged as the architect of peace in Ekiti.
It is, however, regrettable that the same individuals who attempted to derail the APC governorship primary election in 2022, thereby risking a Zamfara-like scenario that could have destabilised our dear state, are once again regrouping. Their latest antics are carefully orchestrated to cause confusion, discredit the leadership of the party in Ekiti, and undermine the peace we currently enjoy.
Our assertion is evidence-based. Among the masterminds of this charade is a woman who once served as a one-term local government chairman in Ekiti State. In 2022, she defected from the APC to the ADC and has not, up till this moment, returned to the APC. Yet she now stands at the forefront of this orchestrated propaganda, pretending to be a loyal APC member while actively pursuing an agenda of destabilisation. Their plan is transparent: to weaken the APC from within, tear it apart, and eventually defect en masse to the ADC in pursuit of selfish ambitions. They shall not succeed.
We therefore call on the National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to act swiftly and decisively by invoking the relevant provisions of our party’s constitution against these impostors and agents of discord. To ignore their actions is to reward indiscipline and sabotage. The peace of Ekiti State and the unity of our great party must not be compromised for the selfish interests of a few desperate individuals.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji remains a leader of peace, a unifier, and the symbol of stability in Ekiti. The APC in Ekiti State stands united, resolute, and unshaken. Those who trade in deceit and political blackmail shall fail, for Ekiti has chosen the path of peace and progress under BAO.
