Governor Oyebanji Lauds Oloworemo-led Ekiti FA on PPP drive

…Charges board on gender inclusiveness

History was made last Friday in Ekiti state when Governor Biodun Oyebanji became the first governor of the state to receive the board of the Ekiti State Football Association in the governor’s office.

The governor was pleased with the contingent’s approach – presented by the chairman, chief Olu Oloworemo – to pursue public and private partnership, PPP to carry out the activities of the association.

Governor Oyebanji who lauded the new initiative being introduced by the Oloworemo led board, subsequently promised to invest strategically on infrastructure, welfare of athletes and other areas of development and promotion.

Governor Oyebanji asked the Ekiti FA to incorporate and promote gender equality in its leadership and activities, characterizing the football ecosystem as a model for other sporting associations in the land.

“I must commend the leadership of the Ekiti FA for a free and fair election, and for the first time having two women in the board, but it not enough, you must do more to bring more women into the fold, you know we have a women’s football team in the state that we are also promoting so it’s important to have more women in football”

Earlier, Chief Oloworemo expressed his gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for his identification with sports and efforts toward its growth, presented the framework of his administration, while clearly enumerating key areas of assistance from the government.
