Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, revealed that his administration has commenced leveraging the Electricity Act 2023 to revolutionize the state’s power supply.
Describing the new law as a game-changer in the electricity sector, he expressed intentions to sign the state’s version of the law soon.
Speaking during a meeting with the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Governor congratulated the Minister and emphasized his commitment to separating politics from Governance, assuring him of full support.
The Governor highlighted the significance of the Electricity Act 2023 in addressing power challenges, stating, “As a matter of fact, we have started taking advantage of the new electricity law already, and I should be signing the Oyo State version of the law by the end of this week or early next week.”
Makinde assured the Minister of collaboration, stating, “We don’t see division and politics when it comes to the issue of governance and ensuring that we provide good living conditions for our people.”
Minister Adelabu, embarking on a nationwide visit to power installations, emphasized the need for collaboration between his Ministry and Oyo State’s Ministry of Energy.
He proposed partnership in areas such as providing transformers to low-income areas, particularly rural communities in the state.
