Government Seals off Eatery in Ekiti for Operating in a Dirty Environment

Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Tosin Aluko Ajisafe, has sealed off Belloni’s Eatery, located on the popular NTA road, Ado Ekiti, for operating in a dirty environment.

Speaking to Journalists on the process that led to the closure of the quick service restaurant, on Monday, the commissioner disclosed that the Ministry of Environment had two weeks ago, sent a warning letter to the management of the eatery, calling their attention to the ugly environment of the eatery.

She said, “Today’s visit is a follow up to a letter written by the Ministry of Environment two weeks ago about the shabby environment from where the restaurant was operating. But to my suprise, till this moment when the ministry went to seal it off, nothing has been done to improve the environment,”

Speaking further, the Honourable Commissioner pointed out that while going round the eatery for inspection, she discovered that its kitchen was nothing to write home about, as stenching smell was coming out from the kitchen.

She also noticed that restaurant’s waste has not been disposed for at least three weeks, which she said must be causing a terrible odour and making the environment unhygienic for cooking, selling food and eating.

Hon Aluko reiterated that welfare of people is so paramount to the Government of Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, hence, the need for every individual or organization that want to set up a food business in the state must adhere strictly to the rule of the game, especially as it concerns cleaniness and environment sanitation.
