…laments increasing gender violence
Girl-Child in Ekiti State has been advised to desist from all forms of immoral activities that can truncate destinies and educational careers.
A guest speaker, Mrs Tosin Abiodun gave the advice at a programme organised by the Trade Union Congress TUC Ekiti State women’s wing for selected secondary school female students in commemoration of this year’s International Day of Girl Child.
Speaking on this year’s theme “DAY OF GIRL CHILD IN THIS DIGITAL GENERATION” Mrs Abiodun told the students to be careful in their dealings and learn to one another as they grow up.
She urged them to use their phones to contribute to their academic performance rather than using it to watch pornography and other unwholesome images.
In her address, the Chairperson of Trade Union Congress women’s wing, Ekiti State, Mrs Olukemi Ogundele lamented over the increasing rate of gender violence in the society and called for proper monitoring of the girl child in order for them to attain greatness.
Mrs Ogundele who commended the efforts of the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi towards steming the tide of violence against women appreciated Chairman of the Union, Mr Sola Adigun for being supportive all the times.
In a remark, the Chairman of TUC in Ekiti State, Mr Sola Adigun urged female folk especially young ones to always dignify themselves and work hard to attain greatness.
Mr Adigun noted that their future is in their hands and urged them to shape it properly.
Others who spoke at the programme including, Bishop Mary Faboro-Olaoye, Mr Timothy Oluwalade, Mrs Bolajoko Fajulu appealed to the students not to allow men to take advantage of them.
