….urges members of the public to participate
…my goal is to support Governor Oyebanji to promote public health in Ekiti…Daramola
A former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ekiti State and Special Adviser to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on Political Matters, Chief Jide Awe has thrown his weight behind the wellness walk tagged “BAOWALK” initiated by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bimbo Daramola.
Chief Jide Awe who is the longest serving chairman of the parties that transmuted to APC in Ekiti State endoresed the walk after playing host to the convener, Hon. Bimbo Daramola in Ado Ekiti.
In his remark, Chief Jide Awe acknowledged the sacrifices and resilience of Hon. Daramola over the years towards the success of APC and government of Oyebanji, urging him to keep up the good work.
He commended Hon. Bimbo Daramola for coming up with the wellness walk which he described as thoughtful, urging members of the public particularly people of Ijero Ekiti to participate in the next edition scheduled for Saturday the 22nd of March, 2025 beginning from 7am in Ijero Ekiti.
Earlier, Hon. Bimbo Daramola praised Chief Jide Awe for the leadership he had provided over the years and the stability role he is playing at the moment in the government of Biodun Oyebanji.
He said the leadership style of Chief Jide Awe inspired some of the young ones including him to remain resolute in the face of adversity because Chief Jide Awe served the party in the days of adversity but showed rare courage and resilience.
Daramola said:”I commend Chief Jide Awe for this show of love, I deemed it fit to bring the BAOWALK to him as a mark of recognition, I thank him for the endorsement he has given, this is a reflection of the fact that we have both come along way, I have an institutional memory of the road that we both traveled in what have become today’s APC.
Daramola appreciated Chief Jide Awe for the endorsement which he said would go along way at encouraging people to participate adding than the idea behind the walk was to support Governor Oyebanji to promote public health.
He said:”Walking among others has been proved to be one on of the “non swallow-able medications” for the advancement of good health and general well being. But it would appear like an abdication of personal responsibility if we know this and refuse to consciously adopt this simple but effective complementary way to sustainably empower our bodies for good health.
“So, the introduction of the once in a month BAO WALK is therefore a symbolic representation for promoting physical activity that is aimed to extend the frontiers of care and concern for the well-being and wellness of Ekiti people
Medical science has also established that the human body has the capability to “auto correct some life threatening underlying major and debilitating health challenges with the adoption of moderate and consistent physical activities as simple as adoption of walking in our lives on daily basis, as against a largely sedentary life that inadvertently is killing us.
“The length of the monthly walk will be between 10-15 Kilometres, through identifiable sale routes, and it’s open to all as the “walk party will be accompanied by men of the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps and other agencies.
Daramola affirmed that there would be health and wellness talks after the exercise, gifts would also be shared randomly among participants, while water would be available.
The BAO WALK kicked off last month in Ikole Ekiti recording over one thousand participants.
