FOOD SECURITY: PASTOR ALADE WANTS NIGERIANS TO ENGAGE IN AGRICULTURE

…urges salary earners to diversify

Nigerians have been urged to fully engage in Agriculture for the nation to have food sufficiency and achieve food security.

District Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Mountain of Mercy, District Headquarters, (Ori Oke Aanu) Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State, Pastor Isaiah O. Alade, popularly known as “Omo Woli”, stated this during a Service at the Mountain Chapel, Ojoo.

Pastor Alade said, individuals were encouraged to involve in farming, mostly food production like Cassava, Rice, Maize, Pepper and Tomatoes and possibly rearing of animals to reduce total dependence on Government for food production .

He noted that citizens were expected to drive Policies and Programmes of government for better and productive results.

“We all need to improve on our food productions to truly crash down the current incessant increase in the prices of food commodities in the Country”.

He advised Salary earners to diversify into farming to feed themselves and their families, rather than rely solely on monthly salary which he said was not enough for their upkeep.

Pastor Alade who is also a Farmer, maintained that, the population of people consuming food outnumbered the number of farmers who were on the farms across the Country, hence the need for everyone to come on board and invest in farming.

“I encourage every Nigerian at this point to be a farmer, farm what you will eat, and you can also farm to sell the remaining ones and make money to buy other useful and needed things”.

The Cleric, however, called on the Government to quickly address the ongoing economic hardship that Nigerians are facing in the best interest of all.
