The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has commended the Federal Government for instructing the payment of Group Life Assurance owed to the families of Nigeria Army personnel who died in action.
The Army Chief commended the FG recently, while declaring open the Chief of Army Staff combined Second and Third Quarters Conference held at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro Abuja.
According to the Army Chief, the role of sound administration and troops’ welfare in military operations is critical; he added that troops’ welfare and their families will remain topmost in Nigeria Army efforts in his time.
As collated from the X handle of the force @HQNigerianArmy, Lieutenant Lagbaja revealed that “The FG plans to settle all existing welfare arrangements and schemes to boost troops well-being, by providing befitting living quarters for personnel, effective medical care to injured soldiers and continued support to widows and next-of-kins of the fallen heroes.”
Speaking on the operations of the Nigeria Army across the nation, he said, “Operation Hadin Kai in the North East has effectively curtailed Boko Haram and other terrorist activities in the region, while Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch have checkmated banditry and insurgency in the North West and North Central regions. Operation Udo Ka in the South East has effectively curtailed criminal activities of dissidents.”
