Federal Polytechnic Ado Vows To Stamp Out Anti Social Activities

Matriculates 10,000 Students

Management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti has restated its commitment to maintain zero tolerance for anti-social behaviours among the students.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye stated this at the matriculation ceremony for students admitted in the  2021/2022 academic session held at the Sports arena in the institution.

Dr. Oladebeye explained that anti-social activities such as internet fraud, known as Yahoo yahoo, cultism, hooliganism, prostitution, sexual harassment and examination malpractices would not be condoned in the Polytechnic.

“Emphasis is tenaciously laid on modest and decent dressing, I will like to advise you to show respect to your colleagues and staff of the Polytechnic for a fruitful and productive stay on this campus”.

“It is understandable that higher institution is a  place where you enjoy a lot of freedom, but sometimes that freedom often comes with some corresponding obligations. As you must have heard, many students, through their carelessness have allowed the illusion of freedom of being in higher institution of learning lure them away from the path of seriousness and commitment to studies”.

He urged them to take their studies seriously in order to ensure that they achieve their goals of becoming successful in their areas of specialisation.

Dr. Oladebeye said despite the dwindling resources, the management had put in place, facilities and programmes to deliver good services to the students.

Some of the facilities and programmes according to the Rector include Publication of textbooks,  well equipped digital library, Best Students scholarship award, sporting and relaxation facilities, Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Entrepreneurship Programme, Quality Health Care, among others.

He however warned the students against vandalization of facilities in the institution to avoid infrastructural decay.

In separate interviews, Some of the matriculating students including Adebayo Ayodeji and Ademehintoye Elizabeth expressed happiness for gaining admission into the Polytechnic and promised to abide by the laid down rules.

At the ceremony, students who performed excellently at the end of 2020/2021 second semester examinations were given cash gift of ten thousand naira each alongside certificates of merit.

Over ten thousand students were matriculated to study various courses in the Polytechnic for the 2021/2022 academic session.
