Fed Poly Ado-Ekiti Alumni Extols Virtues of Former Rector, Dr. Taiwo Akande

…Plans to Celebrate Her in Grand Style

The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association has mapped out plans to celebrate and honour the first female Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Mrs. Theresa Taiwo Akande.

Dr Akande who served between 2009 and 2017 recorded unprecedented success including employment of over one hundred staff, infrastructure development, introduction of innovations that attracted income for the polytechnic just to mention a few.

However, during her tenure, Akande was vilified and persecuted by some staff who were allegedly sponsored by some top officials allegedly eyeing the seat as at that time.

In a letter addressed to the former Rector titled: ‘Invitation to a Special Tribute in Your Honour” and signed by the National President, Dr. Abiodun Oyedokun, the Association attested to her outstanding leadership style and immense contributions to the development of the school.

The event will hold on November 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Alumni National Secretariat.

The letter reads:”It is with great pleasure and honor that we, the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association, invite you to a special tribute in recognition of your outstanding contributions to the institution and the invaluable support, love, and kindness you have shown to our Alumni.

“Your tenure as the 5th substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti was marked by significant achievements and visionary leadership. Your dedication to academic excellence, infrastructural development, and student welfare has left an enduring legacy.

“We would be honored if you could grace the occasion with your presence. Your attendance would add immense significance to this event. Thank you for your time and consideration.”

It would be recalled that, Dr. Akande was recently celebrated by some of the staff she employed in 2013 while in service.
