Excitement as Ikole LG boss Unveils Neighbourhood Market

Promises Improved  Social Amenities

The Chairman of Ikole Local Government Area in Ekiti state, Mr Sola Olominu  has assured traders that his administration would build a health centre in the community’s neighbourhood market.

Olominu gave the assurance during an official opening of a neighborhood market and foundation laying  of the health centre in Ikole-Ekiti.

The market was located along Ikole-Ekiti and Omuo -Ekiti road, adjacent NNPC filing station in Ikole-Ekiti.

The market women and men, the Hausas, and the Yorubas residents who were traders came out en masse to express their gratitude to the chairman of the local government, Mr Olominu for his achievement.

Also, the traditional cultural groups of hausa and yoruba respectively performed at the event to mark the official opening of the market.

The neighbourhood market was commissioned by the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Mrs Bisi Fayemi in Feb.9,2021.

In his  welcome address,Olominu, thanked the Governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi and his wife, Mrs Bisi Fayemi for their support towards the development of the local government.

The local government boss noted that one of the important factors that could enhance the growth and development of any community was availability of medical facilities.

The chairman explained that he decided to lay foundation of a health centre to boost the commercial value of the market and secure a prosperous future for it.

“You will agree with me that one of the important factors towards the growth and development of any commmunity or environment is the availability of medical facilities, and having critically looked into the prosperous future of this market.

“I have come to a conclusion that a manageable and befitting health centre post must be put in place, the foundation which have laid today will enhance effective running of both the commercial and residential activities.

“Also, we should not forget the importance of electricity toward the growth of any commercial activities, after carefully examined this thought, we shall by God’s grace provide solar electricity, that will promote the growth of the market and it’s environment,” he said.

Olominu, appreciated the cooperation and understanding displayed by the good people of Ilotin Quarters under the care of High Chief Sayo Okunola, the Olotin of Ikole -Ekiti.

He commended the security agencies and the management of the local government for their unconditional love and support.

Reacting, the Elekole of Ikole-Ekiti, Oba Adewumi Fasiku who was represented by High Chief Sayo Okunola thanked Olominu adminstration for creating an enabling environment for the traders in the community.

Similarly, the Chairman of Hausa community, Alh. Adamu Imehnen ; the Seriki of Hausa, Alh. Yusuf Abdulai
and Iyaloja of Ikole Local Government , Chief Odunayo Ajibola thanked both the state and the local governments for creating good market for trading in the community.

They assured the management of the local government that they would coexist peacefully in the market.
