It was a momentous occasion on Saturday as residents of Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State celebrated the turbaning of Sheikh Hamed Isola Adeniran to the seat of Chief Imam of Nawir-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, NUDS, Ikere-Ekiti after 16 years since he ascended the position.
The epoch-making event and launching for the completion of NUD Ikere Central Mosque, which took place at the Ikere City Hall was filled beyond its capacity as many dignitaries came from far and near to grace the occasion.
The turbaning of Sheikh Adeniran was carried out by the National Missioner of NUDS, Sheikh Imam Yunus Kehinde while the National President of NUDS, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Ayinla Balogun presented the the Imamship certificate and staff of office.
In his welcome address, the National Vice President of NUDS, Ekiti Zone, Alhaji Chief Tajudeen Adejumo described the Chief Imam of Ikere Central Mosque as a committed and responsible Islamic leader who holds the society together in line with the teachings of the Holy Quran and guidance of the Holy Prophet (SAW).
The Chief Imam of Offa Land, Sheikh Muideen Salman Hussein, who delivered the turbaning lecture lauded Sheikh Adeniran and charged him to continue in his strides in doing more saying that the Almighty Allah will reward him.
Responding after the turbaning, Sheikh Adeniran, who doubles as the Zonal Missioner of NUDS Ekiti Zone pledged to continue to utilize the new office to propagate the Islamic religion in Ikere-Ekiti and the state at large.
While appreciating the dignitaries that attended the occasion, he urged them to join hands together in the quest to spread Islam to the nooks and crannies of the state.
His words: “I feel joyous and happy. I thank Almighty Allah and I pray for those who participated in the exercise, may Allah continue to reward them abundantly. May Allah accept it as an act of worshipping for all of them.
“I will continue praying to Almighty Allah to allow Islam to expand in Ikere and its environs. I advise all the Muslims bodies to join hands to uplift Islam in our environment.”
Sheikh Adeniran is a distinguished Islamic Scholar and a common leader per excellence who was born over seven decades ago, to Late Pa Yusuff Adeniran and Madam Sinat Adeoti Adeniran, both from Eleyowo compound, Odo-Oja quarters, in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
As regards his dedication and contribution towards Islamic progress, Sheikh Adeniran has been honoured with merit Awards from various organizations and institution in Ikere-Ekiti and Ekiti State as well.
Sheikh Dr. Jamiu Kewulere Bello, President General, League of Imams and Alfas South West, Edo and Delta States and Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Adebiyi – Aare Musulumi, Ekiti State in their various goodwill messages showered encomium on Sheikh Adeniran and urged him not to relent in discharging his duties effectively.
Other dignitaries at the event include the representative of HRM Oba Adejimi Adu Alagbado, the Ogoga of Ikere Kingdom, Prof. Abdul-Azeez Mayowa Abdul-Akeem – Special Adviser on Tertiary Education to the Ekiti State Governor, among others.
