It was an atmosphere of joy and excitement as Hon. Bode Adewole Foundation donated cash gifts and food stuff to constituents of Ikere-Ekiti as part of activities marking the yuletide celebrations.
Not fewer than 150 residents drawn from 11 wards in Ikere-Ekiti LGA benefited from the gesture which held on Friday, in Ikere-Ekiti.
Speaking to newsmen, the former member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Bode Adewole known as BAAF represented by the Central Coordinator of the Foundation, Hon. Isaac Newton said that the programme was to put smile on the faces of the people during the festive period.
Hon. Adewole added that the gesture would be extended to other LGAs in the Senatorial District noting that the elderly will equally benefit from the programme.
The former lawmaker said: “It is clear that this is a special programme. It’s the first of its kind in the history of this local government. Nobody has ever organised this kind of programme and he has been doing this programme for the past twelve years.
“When he left the House of Assembly, he continued and he has been helping the less privilege by giving them palliative as upkeep for the Christmas period. And also an extension of payment of school fees. He is a leader of repute.
“It’s part of the foundation to extend the programme to other LGAs, at least the six in the senatorial district starting from next year. We have 11 wards in this LGA which we picked from each ward. At least 150 persons benefited and we still have palliative to give out to the elderly.”
Similarly, the Guest Speaker at th event, Hon. Babalola Abuila described the former lawmaker as an accomplished politician of repute who is committed to the progress of Ikere-Ekiti.
He charged the youths of Ikere Kingdom to emulate Hon. Bode Adewole adding that the recipients of the cash gifts were drawn from all nooks and crannies of the local government without sentiments and discrimination.
