Excitement as EDFHO Commissions Multi-Million Naira Processing Machines in Ekiti Community

The Environmental Development and Family Health Organisation (EDFHO) has commissioned multi-million naira hammer, corn and oepper milling machines in Ajebamidele community, Aramoko, located in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The project, sponsored by ActionAid Nigeria and facilitated by EDFHO, aims to boost the local economy and reduce the community’s cost of food processing.

Speaking with journalists, the Executive Director of EDFHO, Sir Olu Ogunrotimi, explained that the initiative followed a needs assessment that revealed significant infrastructural deficits in the community, where residents have to travel up to 5 kilometers to access basic milling services.

EDFHO also inaugurated a 15-man committee under the auspices ‘Community Action for Development’, which is expected to spearhead advocacy and ensure residents make informed and strategic demands from the government for the progress of Ajebamidele.

His words, “We are in Ajebamidele today for two purposes which are to train community members on how to make their rightful demands from the government for the development of their community.

“We were able to educate them on the approach to make the advocacy so that they can know how to make requests from a government and how to demand for whatever they think would benefit them.

“We are also here to commission 3-in-1 processing machines for the development of the community. This is basically for women in cooperative society but this gesture is also extended to the community members”.

The Team Lead of Actionaid Nigeria, Kehinde Arowosegbe, urged community members to reject incentives during election seasons, emphasizing that doing so would empower them to hold leaders accountable and make meaningful demands for development.

In his remarks, community leader, Ibrahim Ajao thanked EDFHO and ActionAid Nigeria for the initiative and called on residents to use the machines responsibly to attract more development opportunities.

Community members, Anifat Adelani and Babawale Adejoke also expressed their gratitude, noting that the machines would significantly improve their productivity and generate more income for families in the area.
