Ewi Cautions Transport Unions Leadership Against Violence

The Oodua People’s Congress( OPC) leader, Prince  Niyi Adedipe (The Apase Oodua of Ekiti State) on Friday led the new leaders of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) to the palace of Ewi Ado-Ekiti,Oba Ruphus Adeyemo Adejugbe. 

This was sequel to the emergence of Mr Sunday Adeola(alias Abokode) and Chief Joseph Falope (alias Olofooro) as RTEAN and NURTW  new State chairmen respectively. They were introduced to the monarch by Prince Adedipe 

They were accompanied to the Palace after their inauguration  by their deputies,  Mr Olusola Atoki Deputy Chairman NURTW and Mr Enikan Olaye, the Deputy state Chairman RTEAN .

The change of leadership was for the first time in recent years effedred ,without violence or brigandage. 

Receiving the union leaders in his Palace,Oba Adejugbe expressed joy that the change of leadership of the two unions werecdibe peacefully on the state.

The monarch therefore enjoined them to shun all.act of violence and always work towards peace and progress of Ekiti . 

The paramount ruler of Ado-Ekiti however warned against any act of violence and brigandage stressing that the Palace would not tolerate such. 

Oba Adejugbe who  commended Chief Joseph Falope  said his peaceful conduct had endeared him to his members in the state. 

He urged the new leaders to be honest  and work towards improving  the welfare of their members in the State. 

The royal father prayed for them to be successful in their new tasks 

In their response  the drivers unions leaders said they were in the Palace to receive counsel and royal blessings. They assured that nothing that would upset the existing peace in the state would be contemplated .

As a major step to ensure peace, the union leaders, local government executives of the unions elukd ve retained 

They  thanked the Royal Father for tolerating some excesses of the unions while they to fun peaceful administrations. 

In his remarks, Prince Adedipe said he took the union leaders to the palace as part of his efforts to ensure peace and security in Ekiti .

The OPC chief said his desire was to ensure that all stakeholders work together to fight insecurity in the State.
