…warns traders against hike in price of foods
The Elekole in Council in Ikole Ekiti area of Ekiti State has enforced the reduction in the prices of food items and other commodities in the area.
Those affected by the enforcement include traders that sell food items and perishable goods, whose prices were reduced to moderate and considerable level.
The members of Elekole-in-Council also lamented over the unnecessary hike in prices of food stuff such as garri, yams, pepper, among others.
Speaking during the visit to Oja Oba in Ikole Ekiti, the Iyalaje of Ikole Ekiti, Chief Odunayo Akinola explained that peppers, tomatoes, vegetables and other food items were planted in the town, hence the price should be affordable.
Also, Chief Bose Olumide and Chief Ebun Omotunde noted that the increase in the prices of food stuff would continue to bring untold hardship to the people.
They therefore called on the government at all levels to find lasting solutions to the economic challenges facing the nation.
Others who went for the enforcement are the Iyalaje, Eyelobirin, Eye Ewi, Elemese, Elesi, Asaba and Mrs Mope Obaweya.
