… suspended physical academic activities
Academic and non academic activities have been suspended in Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti in line with the directive of National University Commission NUC that all universities should close to allow students and staff exercise their franchise during elections.
The University senate at its Special Meeting held on Wednesday considered the directive from the National Universities Commission through a circular with reference number: NUC/ES/138/VOL.64/178 dated 3″ February, 2023 that all academic activities in Nigerian Universities should be suspended to enable staff and students participate in the forthcoming 2023 general elections
After an exhaustive consideration of the directive, the Senate decided to suspend physical attendance at lectures between Wednesday, 22nd February, 2023 to Thursday, 14 March, 2023, During this period, online activities including teaching would not be affected.
The highest decision making body extended the period of late registration for the First Semester of the 2021/2022 academic session till 14th March, 2023, after which the University’s portal will be closed.
It read:”Any student who fails to take advantage of this window of opportunity will face the penalty of non- registration for one semester and eventual withdrawal from the University if such student fails to register for two consecutive semesters”
“Upon resumption on Wednesday 15 March, 2023, administration of continuous assessment would Immediately commence. Any student who has not completed his/her registration by paying the stipulated fees and charges will not be able to participate in the continuous assessment exercise.
Also, Management at its meeting held on Wednesday directed that Members of staff should work from home.
The management said whenever the attention of any staff is needed for special assignment, such staff would be contacted.
Those who provide essential services are exempted from this shut down order, as they are required to be at their duty posts.
