Eld-El-Kabir: Ekiti Government Directs Celebrants to Observe COVID-19 Protocols

Ekiti State Government has appealed to residents of the state especially Muslims to be cautious of COVID 19 during Salah celebration.

In a statement, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani explained that the virus was still in existence, hence the need for people to maintain precautionary measures during the festival.

According to him, Ekiti State experienced significant decline in the number of positive COVID-19 cases and low occupancy in the isolation centres.

The commissioner noted that the State Ministry of Health would continues to monitor the recent wave of COVID-19 spread across the country and admonished residents to beware of spreading the virus.

Dr Oyebanji also advised the celebrants to be mindful of their associations and movements during the festive.

He reaffirmed that the State ministry of Ministry of Health would continue its surveillance activities to ensure quick detection and mitigation spread of COVID-19.

He said the State had trained and deployed over 80 mobile vaccination teams across all LGAs of the State, adding that Primary healthcare centres are also accessible for COVID-19 vaccination.

Dr Filani explained that present administration remained committed to ensuring that all eligible persons in the state are vaccinated and would continue engaging its partners to ensure constant availability and accessibility of vaccines.

“Vaccination remains the most effective means of curbing the pandemic and everyone is encouraged to embrace this measure.

Dr Filani therefore wished all Muslim faithfuls a safe and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
