

The leadership of the National Association of Resident Doctors, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital EKSUTH,Ado Ekiti has condemned the attack on two doctors by some students.
Addressing newsmen in the hospital, President, National Association of Resident Doctors, EKSUTH, Branch, Dr Ayodeji Olatayo described the act as barbaric and uncalled for, urging Ekiti State Government to fish out the perpetrators before six o’clock tomorrow or face industrial action.
He noted that there was need for relative of patients to respect health workers, saying such attitude would no longer be tolerated.
Also, former president of the Association and Chairman, EKSUTH Inter-Allied Forum, Dr. Adeyemi Famous called for the enactment of law that would criminalise attack on health workers.

According to him, it is high time patients and their relatives stopped attacks on Doctors despite their efforts to safe lives of the people.
He said :”Our members were also attacked some weeks ago, there is need for Ekiti State House of Assembly to put in place laws to make those found in such act to pay for their actions.
He called on security agents to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators to serve as deterrent to others, saying the Union would not watch and allow some people to rubbish members
The students who had accident on Friday were rushed to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Hospital but threw caution to the air and assaulted two doctors leaving them with injuries on the account that they were not properly attended to.
