EKSUTH Denies Refusal to Evacuate Recovered Flood Victims

The Management of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, EKSUTH, has denied reports alleging that the hospital refused to evacuate victims recovered following the recent flooding incident in the state.

In a statement, the hospital described the allegation as incorrect, saying it had been working closely with relevant agencies of the Ekiti State Government in the search, recovery and appropriate management of victims since the incident occurred.

The management disclosed that the bodies of two recovered victims had so far been received and were being kept at the EKSUTH mortuary.

It said it was unaware of any circumstance that could reasonably give rise to the allegation that the hospital refused to evacuate recovered victims.

EKSUTH urged members of the public to rely on verified information, particularly at the difficult time, and avoid circulating reports capable of causing further distress to affected families.

The hospital management and staff expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, as well as the people of Ekiti State, over what it described as a deeply unfortunate incident.
