Workers of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti under the umbrella of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, on Monday held a special interdenominational prayer to usher in the new year and seek God’s guidance in their activities.
The special prayer themed “The Grateful Heart” was held at the Oodua Auditorium within the premises of the campus.
During the session, the workers sang praises to God in appreciation of His grace that sustained their lives to witness the new year, after which Bible and Quran verses were read.
In his message which was taken from the book of 1st thessalonica, chapter 1 verses 18, Pastor Olabode Awe urged the workers to learn to appreciate and show gratitude to God at all times respective of the situation and endure hardship when it comes.
He charged the congregation to also show love and support to everyone around them as such attracts blessings from God
In his remark, the Chairman SSANU, Comrade Azeez Aguda said the workers would continue to support the management but demanded the payment of the outstanding 25 and 35% consequential adjustment and new minimum wage to his members.
He appreciated the Alumni leaders of the University for their support.
In his goodwill message, Registrar of the University, Dr. Ife Oluwole, affirmed that God has been kind to the University considering the successes recorded.
However, he urged the workers to be diligent and do what is right at all times.
Also the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, EKSU, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele said the university has been over subscribed in view of the academic excellence and stable calendar.
The VC urged staff to be more committed to work so as to justify the investment of government in their welfare adding that management would not tolerate any form of indiscipline and unlawful conduct.
