In line with its mandate of encouraging academic excellence, the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti EKSU Alumni Association has given out cash prizes worth 10 million naira to outstanding graduands in the 2024 Convocation ceremony.
At the ceremony held at the university Auditorium, the Global President of the association, Engr Dipo Bamisaye said the gesture was to encourage undergraduates of the institution that there is reward for academic hardwork.
Engr Bamisaye noted that the Alumni Association under his watch will continue to impact on the student’s life and the institution.
“It is one of our mandates to encourage students to be more studious and it will also give parents relief”.
“A prize winner can start making living with the amount he or she wins and it’s sort of empowerment “.
Speaking on the Prize Award, the Chairman, Endowment Committee of EKSU Alumni Association, Chief Soji Ehinlanwo said winners were critically selected and based on merit.
Chief Ehinlanwo notes that the prizes award initiative has come to stay as the Alumni Association vowed to sustain it.
The prizes were sponsored by members of the alumni association in different categories.
Olanipekun Oluwadamilola Precious won the Best Student Prize by the Alumni Association with a total of one point eight million naira (N1.8m) being the best student from both faculty and departmental prizes
In all fifty seven (57) Prize awards were given out to deserving students and staff in the pacesetting learning incentivisation initiative.
Dignitaries at the Convocation ceremony include the University Visitor and Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, the new Chancellor, Dr Tunji Olowolafe, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Edward Olanipekun, Pro-Chancellor, Prof Akin Oyebode, Commissioners and leadership of the Alumni Association.
