The Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Ekiti State, Comrade Sola Adigun, has welcomed workers back to work after the Yuletide celebration.
In a New Year message in Ado Ekiti, Mr Adigun urged the workers to show more dedication to their jobs in the overall interest of the state.
He also emphasized the importance of workers taking good care of their health, especially in the face of current economic challenges.
The TUC chairman also advised workers to be moderate in their financial dealings to navigate the economic situation effectively.
The Union leader who doubled as the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) Ekiti State used the opportunity to welcome both the teachers and the students back to school for the 2nd term academic session. He urged the parents to prioritize the well-being and education of wards in the new year, describing them as the future of the nation. He opined that students at all levels must be treated with dignity and respect.
Mr Adigun, who advocated improved collaborative efforts among education stakeholders in the state, suggested that this could be achieved through the parental roles in the students, continuous provision of facilities, retraining of teachers, and recruitment of more teachers to fill existing vacancies of manpower in schools.
He commended Governor Oyebanji for his commitment to workers’ welfare, saying that the governor has consistently demonstrated his support for workers, including the implementation of the minimum wage and the regular payment of salaries and pensions.
The TUC leader also pledged the support of workers for the government as he stated that workers were ready to work with the government to achieve its goals and develop the state.
