The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has pledged to recognize the exemplary service of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Corps members currently undergoing orientation in the state.

Represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Youths Development, Hon. Adedayo Gold Adesola, Governor Oyebanji announced plans to confer the prestigious State Honours Awards upon outstanding Corps members who have shown exceptional commitment during their service year.

Emphasizing the academic achievements of the newly sworn-in Corps Members and their dedication to national service, Governor Oyebanji commended the NYSC for its role in shaping Nigerian youths’ minds.

Acknowledging the contributions of past Corps Members to Ekiti State, Governor Oyebanji urged current Corps members to actively participate in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

While addressing challenges faced by the NYSC in Ekiti State, including infrastructure deficiencies at the orientation camp, Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed his commitment to support within available resources. He praised the dedication of the State Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, and the entire team in amplifying the NYSC’s impact in the state.

In his address, State Coordinator NYSC Ekiti State, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shuaibu, welcomed the corps members and highlighted the importance of the Orientation Course in preparing them for their responsibilities. He commended the Corps Members for their exemplary conduct and collaboration during camp activities.

However, Alhaji Riko raised concerns about pressing issues requiring attention from the Ekiti State government, including the lack of lecture halls, timely disbursement of monthly allowances for corps members, and urgent repairs to the camp’s perimeter fence.

He urged the corps members to excel in their duties and expressed gratitude to collaborating agencies and local authorities for their support in molding Nigerian Youths.

The swearing-in ceremony, attended by several royal fathers, the chief judge, judicial personalities, and various governmental dignitaries, underscored the importance of the occasion.
