The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba has been honoured with an award of recognition by the Emure Forum of Chartered Accountants.
The award was in recognition of her exceptional achievements in the field of accounting, politics and contributions to the development of Emure town, Ekiti State and the country at large.
At the reception held at the Palace hall of the Elemure of Emure Ekiti, Rt Hon Adelugba was described by the forum as a trailblazer who has done the community proud in many ways, being the first female Chartered Accountant from the town and the first female Speaker of the state legislature.
The Forum described the award bestowed on the Speaker as unprecedented and a well-deserved one, having surmounted the courage to pave the way for the younger generations on the possibility of passing the ICAN examinations to become a chartered accountant.
The Speaker, in her address, expressed satisfaction and joy on the honour bestowed on her.
Rt Hon Adelugba while appreciating her husband, Pastor Adepoju Adelugba for giving her the necessary support to excel, also thanked the group of Emure Chartered Accountants and all sons and daughters of the town for breaking a jinx by celebrating their own and making her a recipient of the prestigious award, saying that it will propel her and others to continue in their quest towards promoting the town.
She however advised youths and students of various secondary schools present at the ceremony to shun shortcuts and fraudulent activities, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, but to emulate various successful people within the community who have achieved success by dints of hardwork and perseverance.
Adelugba, who holds a Masters’ degree in Financial Management and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria was recently conferred a Merit of Excellence by the National body of the Institute.
Earlier in her welcome address, the past Chairman, Ado Ekiti and District Society of ICAN and the Planning Committee of the Forum, Dr. Raliat Ayeni-Agbaje said the purpose of the award was to showcase Emure Ekiti as a community of chartered accountants and to honour Indigenes who have achieved excellence as chartered accountants and role models who are worthy of emulation.
She also noted that the award was to raise a high level of consciousness of the youth to the importance of education and to launch the town’s education endowment fund for students.
Also, Keynotes addresses were delivered by representatives of the traditional ruler of the town, Oba E.A Adebayo; President, Ado and District Society of the Institute, Mr Moses Ibikunle.
Highpoints of the ceremony was the presentation of award plaques to the recipients, cultural display by locals and donations.

Adeoye Aribasoye; Mrs Fola Richie-Adewusi, Mr. Oscar Ayeleso, the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Mr Tola Esan, Chief of Staff to the Speaker Prince Toyin Olajide, Wives of the Elemure and Olojudo; Olori Adebayo and Olori Ilori, Chartered Accountants, members of the forum, and sons and daughters of the community among others.
