In a bid to revitalize the scouting program in Ekiti State, the Ekiti Scout Commissioner, Scouter Ajibade Oyeniran, called for a partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to boost outreach and awareness.
The Scout commissioner disclosed this in a meeting with the Ekiti state NUJ chairman, Mr. Babatuyi Kayode, where he highlighted the importance of scouting as a crucial tool for shaping the moral values of young people.
He said scouting is a government-supported program that targets children between the ages of 6-18, training them to be responsible citizens, and steering them away from criminal activities.
The Ekiti Scout Commissioner acknowledged that the scouting program in Ekiti had been dormant for the past decade due to neglect, expressing his commitment to restoring its former glory.
The NUJ chairman, Mr. Kayode, commended Scouter Ajibade’s efforts to create a safer society through scouting.
He promised the NUJ’s full cooperation and assured the Ekiti Scout Commissioner of timely and adequate support.
