Ekiti Residents Reject Old Naira Notes Despite Supreme Court Judgement

…Buhari, Emefiele remain mute

Residents of Ekiti state have continued to reject the old naira notes despite the order by the Supreme Court judgement extending the validity of the old notes till December.

Roundoffnews Correspondent who went round reports that the people claimed that they can only take the note on the directive of President Buhari or CBN Governor, Emefiele.

Speaking with a trader, Mrs. Ogunleye said, marketers in the state are yet to accept the old naira note

In her words, “I went to Emure market and I found out that most of the marketers are yet to accept the old naira note”. Although, she said that if banks start reissuing the money she can accept it.

Also, a trader who pleaded for anonymity said that, he will not accept old naira note until President Muhammadu Buhari and the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele openly declare to concur with the judgement.

More so, speaking with a motorcyclist, Mr. Sola who said that, he is waiting for the responds of the President. Nevertheless, non has given him the money.

Meanwhile, the President and the CBN Governor have remained mute as regards the Supreme Court judgement.

However, report has it that some banks dispensed the old notes in Abuja on Monday.
