By Precious Oham

Residents of Irona axis in Ado-Ekiti of Ekiti State, have raised the alarm over the fallen high-tension electric pole connected to a transformer supplying power to streets in the area.

The residents feared that it could cause a major disaster if operatives of BEDC fail to come to their aid.

A business woman in Irona market lamented that this has caused fear among traders while calling on the authorities to remove the fallen poles said she has been trading with anxiety.

Mrs Bosede Olajide said: “It has caused power outage and no one knows how long it will take before they will fix it. It may kill people because it is located directly in the market.”

Passersby also called on BEDC operatives to intervene to prevent casualties, most especially, the affected area is situated right in a busy Irona market.

Recall that the power blackout being experienced since Saturday, 25th February in some parts of Ado-Ekiti may have been caused by the fall of the high- tension electric pole.

As at the time of filling in this report, business activities are still ongoing in Irona market as there were no signs to prevent casualties or a fire incident where the affected pole fell down.
