EKITI RESIDENTS LAMENT SCARCITY OF PETROL

…Say if situation continues, workers may not resume work on Monday

Some residents of Ekiti State have called on Governor Biodun Oyebanji to find solution to the issue of petrol scarcity and hike in its price.

The residents made the call while speaking with our correspondent who monitored the situation.

One of them, Mr Fatai Salami complained that the product is not distributed in most of the petrol stations in the state, saying few ones dispensing were selling above N700 per litre.

He alleged that some of the petrol station owners were hoarding the product and called on government task force to move round all the filling stations in order to be able to sanction the erring one.

Mr Salami noted that since subsidy had been removed from the product, there is need for federal government to make it available to citizens.

Other concerned residents of the state, Mrs Wuraola Adegboola and Mr Sola Aladeloba said, if the product is not available before Monday, commercial and government activities may paralyse while workers will find it difficult to go to their various offices.

According to them, the scarcity will also affect resumption of students on Monday.

Our correspondent who surveyed the State capital and some towns reported that few filling stations selling the product were over populated.
