Ekiti Primary Healthcare Agency Seeks NUJ Support on Measles Campaign

Ekiti State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has called for support from the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council in the promotion of necessary information regarding measles.

This was disclosed by the State Health Educator of the Agency, Mrs Olajumoke Oguntoye during a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Union in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.

According to her, the Agency is seeking the support of NUJ in the State to help create awareness ahead of the upcoming Integrated Measles Campaign in the State.

Mrs Oguntoye said the campaign is scheduled to commence on the 21st of September, 2024 adding that it became imperative to carry the journalists along as they are the right tools that will spread the information about the importance of the vaccine and where to access it in all the designated areas across the state.

She noted that the Agency is in partnership with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, JohnSnow and many more partners aimed at having good results at the end of the measles campaign.

Also, the State Health Educator commended the NUJ’s tremendous supports over the years, adding that the union always do more than expected whenever they are called upon.

In his remark, the Union Chairman Mr Kayode Babatuyi promised the Union’s full support ahead of the measles campaign and assured of continual support for the health workers.

He however urged the Agency to provide financial assistance for the media so as to ensure smooth reportage and wide coverage of their events.
