EKITI PENSIONERS PRAY FOR OYEBANJI’ SUCCESS IN OFFICE

Both the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran emphasized on the need for followers to pray for their leaders.

This perhaps could have necessitated the action of Ekiti pensioners who on Thursday went spiritual in an attempt to seek the face of God for the just inaugurated Governor of Ekiti State,  Hon. Biodun Oyebanji.

The interdenominational prayer which was held at the Secretariat of the union in Ado Ekiti was basically to seek the assistance and guidance of God for the new Governor to surpass the achievements of his predecessors.

In his sermon, Pastor Isaac Ayodele Ojo explained that only God can touch the heart of the Governor to see to the need of the pensioners, hence the need for the prayer.

He expressed disatisfaction with how leaders often deny retirees thier benefits after they have served the state with the better part of their lives.

Also, the Chief Imam of Ansar-Ur-Deen Central Mosque, Ado Ekiti, Abdul Mutolib Mohammed  expressed hope that Governor Biodun Oyebanji would perform excellently and charged residents of the state to continue to pray for him.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners NUP, Ekiti State, Mr Joel Akinola noted that the state government is owing pensioners of local and state governments over forty billion naira urging the present administration of Governor Oyebanji to offset the debt.

The Ekiti NUP Chairman told journalists that over three hundred of their members have died in the last four years without collecting their entitlements while  over four hundred are bedridden and lacked money to take care of themselves.

He appealed to the present administration to only build on the good legacy of Governor Fayemi.
