Ekiti Pensioners Praise Governor Oyebanji at End-of-Year Prayer Summit, Seek Improved Welfare

...Oyebanji’s Father Attends Prayer Summit

Members of the Pensioners Association of Nigeria (PAN), Ekiti State chapter, converged for an end-of-year interdenominational prayer summit and Christmas get-together to give thanks for survival, unity, and progress recorded in 2025.

Presents at the summit includes the father of Ekiti State Governor, Ezekiel Omikunle, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Chairman, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Pensions, the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, senior officials from the Office of the Head of Service, Chief Imam of Ansarudeen, Ado-Ekiti, Alhaji Imam Abdullah Abdul-Muttalib, pastors, and leaders of various pensioners’ groups and associations.

Speaking at the gathering, the PAN Chairman in Ekiti State, Comrade Joel Olomi Akinola, described the outgoing year as significant, particularly in overcoming leadership challenges that had previously affected pensioners. He said the emergence and legal recognition of PAN marked a new beginning built on transparency and collective welfare.

Akinola expressed appreciation to the Ekiti State Government and Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for the regular and prompt payment of monthly pensions, the payment of gratuities, and the Christmas pension bonus, which he described as unprecedented in the state.

While commending the gradual liquidation of outstanding gratuities, the PAN chairman appealed for increased efforts, especially toward local government pensioners. He also urged the state government to consider an upward review of pensions in view of rising living and healthcare costs.

The father of the Governor, Mr. Kunle Oyebanji who was in attendance, praised the association’s leadership and urged members to sustain their commitment to peace and constructive engagement.

The Chief Imam of Ansarudeen, Ado-Ekiti, Alhaji Imam Abdullah Abdul-Muttalib, while speaking with the press, commended the leadership of PAN and offered prayers for greater achievements in the coming year, while Christian clerics prayed for peace and prosperity in Ekiti State.
