The newly appointed Ekiti State People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Caretaker Committee has urged a former governor of the State, Ayodele Fayose to decamp to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC due to his anti-party activities.

The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Dare Adeleke stated this at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti on Friday on the State of Affairs of the party.

Adeleke said that the Caretaker Committee is committed to rebuild and restore the party’s strength across all levels in the State.

The Chairman, however, called on Governor Biodun Oyebanji to focus more on governance

His words: “It is with deep concern that I must address the anti-party activities of Ayo Fayose and his cohorts. His public declarations and serial endorsements of the opposition are a direct affront to the values and unity of our great party.

“I strongly condemn these actions and encourage him to take the bold and honest step of officially decamping rather than openly aligning himself with an opposing party and misleading others into his self-serving interests.

“His actions mislead the public, giving them a distorted and false image of what the PDP stands for. Our focus is on strengthening Ekiti PDP, and such behavior only serves to weaken our collective efforts.

“The security architecture of the state has suffered seriously to the extent that the state has witnessed unchecked kidnapping in which only in this year 12 cases have been recorded. In addition to this it has become a season of wanton killings especially on street of the state capital as just in one week about six people were gruesomely gunned down in broad daylight.

“I urge the good people of Ekiti to remain calm, patient, and vigilant. In 2026, we must reject this cycle of neglect and choose leadership that genuinely prioritizes our collective well-being and development.

“As we continue this journey of rebuilding, I urge all party members to remain focused and avoid any form of distraction that could derail our progress. The work ahead is crucial, and we must stand united in our mission.”
