EKITI NUT DISSOCIATES SELF FROM PURPORTED STORY THAT GOV OYEBANJI DENIED TEACHERS PROMOTION

…Commends Governor’s welfare packages for teachers

The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers(NUT), Ekiti state Wing has dissociated itself from the publication in circulation that the governor of Ekiti state, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has denied teachers 2022 and 2023 promotion .

The chairman of (NUT), Ekiti state Wing, Comrade Daodu Bamidele Olaitan in a statement denounced the report, saying the report did not emanate from the leadership of the union. He urged the general public to disregard the publication.

In a statement made available to journalists on Friday, the NUT Chairman distanced the union from the purported write up by some group of individuals that are faceless to the leadership of the Union whereby the activities of the present government is being condemned based on the inability of our members from the secondary sector to receive their promotion letters.

The statement reads further,
The leadership of Ekiti NUT, had met Governor Oyebanji on the promotion of secondary school teachers for 2022/2023 and the governor had promised to address the matter. At no time have we had any rift with the governor on this issue. We believe in the leadership of Mr Governor. We know that it’s our responsibility to fight for the welfare of our members but nonetheless the leadership of the Union has not authorized any one or group of individuals to release any press statement or write up on the above subject matter”

While commending the governor, Comrade Daodu said Governor Oyebanji is the most teachers’ friendly in the history of Ekiti state. Adding that since he assumed office in 2022, he has prioritized teachers welfare, provided a conducive atmosphere for learning and above all has ensured that teachers not only enjoy all the benefits accrued to civil servants but are at par with their contemporaries in the civil service.

While assuring Ekiti teachers of his unrelenting commitment to representing their interest well, Comrade Daodu called his colleagues to remain calm and urged residents of Ekiti to disregard publications that are capable of pitching the union against the governor.
