The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT, Ekiti State Wing, Comrade Emmanuel Oke has commended the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his predecessor Dr John Kayode Fayemi over their roles in the sustainability of the Nigerian democracy.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti Comrade Emmanuel oke explained that the rolls of the progressives minded persons of Asiwaju Tinubu, Oyebanji and Fayemi towards the promotion of the Nigeria unity peace and sustainable democracy cannot be quantified.
He noted that Fayemi while serving as Governor of Ekiti State provided equal opportunity and level playground for everybody saying that is why people like him can occupy the number one seat of NUT.
The NUT chair noted that such positive attitude was also adopted by Governor Oyebanji whom he said had not dabbled into union politics or undermine any labour leader in the State
Comrade Oke congratulated Nigerians for witnessing another democracy day urging everyone to continue to play their roles towards ensuring the unity and Peace of the country.
He urged Nigerians not to be discouraged by the current hardship posed by the removal of subsidy just as he called on the president to fulfil his promises of cushioning the effect of the subsidy on Nigerians.
The NUT chairman called on government to ensure improved welfare packages for teachers due to their roles in the sustainability of Nigerian democracy.
According to him, a nation without education cannot live together in peace adding that teachers are role models destiny builders and career supporters.
Comrade Oke similarly congratulated the wife of the former Governor of Ekiti State Erelu Bisi Fayemi on the celebration of her 60th birthday wishing her many more years in good health and abundance.
Oke who is also the Vice Chairman, NLC, Ekiti State noted that Erelu Fayemi devoted her life to the service of humanity particularly her support for women and the girl child.
