Ekiti NULGE Congratulates Governor Oyebanji on Re-Election, Promises Continued Partnership

Local government workers in Ekiti State have congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his re-election, describing the ‘landslide victory’ as a clear vote of confidence in his commitment to workers’ welfare and grassroots development.

In a congratulatory message made available to newsmen, NULGE president, Comrade Oluseyi Olatunde, NULGE said the governor’s win across all wards and local governments reflected the trust workers and citizens have in his visionary leadership.

Olatunde confirmed that the victory has shown that the various endorsement of the governor by NULGE and other unions was not a ruse.

He noted that Oyebanji’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and workers’ welfare within three years and some months had transformed lives and justified the mandate given by Ekiti people, hence the need for the renewal of the mandate.
The NULGE president said Governor Oyebanji had prioritized workers’ welfare since assuming office in 2022, a factor that endeared him to civil and local government workers across the state.

He said “The administration cleared outstanding salary arrears, promoted workers as and when due, and ensured prompt payment of salaries. It also approved the consequential adjustment of the minimum wage for state and local government workers, cushioning the effect of economic hardship.

“The governor further prioritized pensioners’ welfare by offsetting backlog of gratuities and increasing monthly pension payments. Workers’ health insurance scheme was strengthened to improve access to medical care for civil servants and their families.

“Your remarkable achievements in workers welfare have positively transformed lives and restored hope among workers. That is why local government workers stood firmly with you at the polls,” Olatunde said.

The union commended Ekiti people for their peaceful conduct during the election and prayed for God’s wisdom and strength for the governor in his second term.

“As you prepare for another term of service, we pray that God will continue to guide and strengthen you to deliver even greater dividends of democracy to Ekiti people,” he added.
