Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti State Council has partnered Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in tackling the menace of quackery in the profession and enlighten motorists on precautionary measures to prevent crashes on the roads.
The agreement was made on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the office of the Ekiti State Sector Comnander of FRSC, along Ado/Ikere-Ekiti road.
Speaking during the visit, Chairman of NUJ in Ekiti State, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi lamented over quackery in journalism profession, the development which he said has caused alot of distractions and solicited for the supports of the FRSC and other organisation in tackling the problem.
Comrade Babatuyi explained that the visit was part of the familiarisation tour by the new executive members to the office of the FRSC and to build more relationship between the Ekiti NUJ and the officials of the FRSC.
He assured the FRSC of more quality and good publicity, urging them not to relent in their role of sensitizing members of the public on the danger of reckless driving.
Responding, the Sector Commander, Ekiti State FRSC, Mr Olusola Joseph appreciated the Chairman and his executive members for the visit.
He emphasized the importance of the work of Journalists in the State and promised to continue in maintaining good relationship with the members of the media.
The FRSC boss reiterated the readiness of the organization under his watch will continue in according more respects and dignity to the members of the media.
Similarly, the Head of Operations, Ekiti State Command of the FRSC, Mr Olajide Magaji, thanked members of the executive, Ekiti NUJ for the visit.
He used the occasion to announced the delivery of a new branded towing vehicle to the command , saying FRSC will henceforth tow any obstructing vehicles from the road.
