EKITI NUJ HAILS OYEBANJI FOR CONNECTING BSES TO IPP, NATIONAL GRID

The Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commended the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for connecting the State-owned broadcasting outfit, the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) to the State’s Independent Power Project (IPP).

The Union in a statement co-signed by its chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi and the Secretary, Comrade O’Seun Ogunsakin, said the gesture was a demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to providing citizens with access to quality information.

The umbrella body for journalists said it was glad that Governor Oyebanji was making frantic efforts to ensure that BSES is salvaged by providing new equipment as well as uninterrupted power supply to enable the station operate 24/7.

While describing Oyebanji as a listening Governor, the Union appealed for more interventions that will completely overhaul the media station and reposition it for more productive outputs.

“We are extremely thankful to Governor Oyebanji for connecting BSES to IPP. This came after it was connected to the national grid a few months ago. The Governor’s gesture is heartwarming after several years that the station has run on generator, limiting its capacity. There are other areas where we still need him to intervene. We are sure that the new development will reposition the station for better outputs “, the Union said.
