EKITI NUJ FELICITATES MUSLIMS ON EID-EL KABIR

…Calls for Sacrifice and Faith

The Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has felicitated Muslims in the State, particularly Muslim journalists on witnessing another Eid-el Kabir.

In a statement co-signed by the chairman of the Union, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi and the Secretary, Comrade O’Seun Ogunsakin, the Union noted that the festive season commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.

The umbrella body for journalists in Ekiti State urged Muslims, particularly Muslim journalists not to forget the lessons of sacrifice, submission, loyalty, obedience and faith which the season embodies.

While calling for a modest celebration, the NUJ urged Muslims not to allow the festivity erode the essence of the season but ensure they celebrate with the poor and less privilege as Allah commanded.

The Union also charged both Muslim and Christian journalists in the State to brace up to make sacrifices for the planned construction of a befitting Press Centre as it has commenced plans for the erection of the new Centre.

It stated that the vision of a new Press Centre would be actualised faster when members demonstrate commitment and loyalty to the Union’s cause.
