The Ekiti State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has felicitated the national president of the Union Dr Chris Isiguzo on his nomination for a State Honours award by the Kogi State Government.
The State chairman of the Union, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, in a statement signed by the Union’s Secretary, O’Seun Ogunsakin in Ado Ekiti, said the conferment of the State Honours’ award on Isiguzo is a confirmation that the NUJ president has truly distinguished himself as a worthy Nigerian.
Babatuyi said Isiguzo has led journalists across the country to give voice to the masses and also protect national interest as a patriotic Nigerian.
The Ekiti council chairman who hailed the president for his numerous contributions to practice of journalism in the country said Isiguzo has redefined the system by upholding truthfulness, professionalism and diligence.
Babatuyi said he was convinced that Isiguzo is being recognized having exuded qualities that are honourable and worthy of commendation.
“I am not surprised that our dear President, Dr Chris Isiguzo is among the 79 distinguished personalities to be conferred with State Honours by the Kogi State Government. In the last few years of his leadership as President of NUJ, he has redefined the practice of journalism across the country and prioritized the welfare of members. We, in Ekiti council, therefore rejoice and felicitate him on this feather in his cap”, Babatuyi said.
