

…commends Ekiti Govt over commitment to welfare of workers
The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Ekiti State Branch has called on the federal government to address the agitations of Nigerian doctors before the expiration of the notice of strike to prevent shutdown of healthcare services.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the 28th Annual General Meeting of the NMA Ekiti State Branch which held at Doctors’ House from 26th July – 1st August, 2025 and signed by its Chairman, Dr. Ifedayo Oreyemi and Secretary, Dr. Akinluyi Oluwatobi.
The association urged the federal government to adequately address the 16-point demands bothering the welfare of Nigerian doctors and overhauling of healthcare systems in the country.

According to them, “if implemented, will adequately address the problem of brain drain in Nigeria and put the country’s healthcare delivery on global map.”
They commended the Ekiti State government for their unwavering commitment to the welfare of workers in the state and called for speedy implemention and payment of 2025 MRTF to Resident Doctors in Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
The resolutions reads: “The AGM called on the FG and the MDAs involved in Doctors welfare to immediately take necessary steps to address the agitations of Nigerian Doctors before the expiration of the 21-day ultimatum given by the NMA to prevent shut down of Healthcare sector in Nigeria.
“The AGM called on the Federal Government to continue to strengthen the Security architecture in the country to stem down the tide of insecurity and terrorism to enhance economic prosperity of the country.
“The AGM equally called on the FG to urgently address the inflation in the country and also improve the purchasing power of the common Nigerians. The meeting urged the President HE Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) to ensure he does not lead hungry Nigerians as they say “An Hungry Man Is An Angry Man”.
“The AGM urged the FG to ensure all hands are on deck to ensure universal coverage of citizens under the NHIA. Efforts must also be made by the NHIA to implement the recently reviewed capitations and other payments to Healthcare providers under NHIA to make the scheme attractive to both Healthcare providers and beneficiaries.
“The AGM applauded the Ekiti State Governor, H/E Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of workers in Ekiti State. This has been demonstrated again in the recently implementation of approved CONMESS for all Doctors in Ekiti.
“The AGM called on the Ekiti State Governor for speedy implementation and payment of 2025 MRTF to Resident Doctors in Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital to make them compete favourably with their colleagues in Federal Teaching Hospitals who had been paid same 2025 MRTF.”
