Ekiti Lawmaker Commends Value Female Network For Training Constituents Against Teenage Pregnancy

The lawmaker representing Ekiti East Constituency-1, at the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Oladele Olaoye
Ogunsakin has expressed delight over the training of some outstanding of school children in his constituency by a non-governmental organization, Value Female on how to become responsible and achieve their dreams.

The five-day programme, which was held in Omuo-Ekiti, with participants drawn from Ekiti East and Gbonyin local government areas of Ekiti State, was organized by Value Female Network, VFN, with support from United Nations Populations Fund, UNFPA.

The girls were trained to become advocates against Female Genital Mutilation, teenage pregnancy and childhood marriage.

Reacting to the training, Hon Ogunsakin who is the Minority Leader of the house affirmed that such training was apt and thoughtful considering the positive impacts on the direct beneficiaries and the larger society.

He appealed to the participants to take advantage of the training to remodel their lives and others so as to become the best they want to be in the future.

The lawmaker also appreciated the United Nations Populations Fund, UNFPA for supporting the programme just as he asked for more of such activities in his constituency.

The Executive Director of VFN, Dr Costly Aderibigbe-Saba had earlier said that the programme was targeted at empowering out-of-school girls to champion fights against harmful practices in their communities.
