Residents of Ekiti State have again been reminded of the need for them to take active part in elections, most especially the forthcoming governorship poll in the state.
The Director, Justice Development and Peace Initiative, JDPI Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Reverend Father Emmanuel Akingbade stated this in Ado Ekiti at a road walk organised by JDPI in collaboration with Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council and Ekiti Council of Elders.
He said many people no longer participate in elections thereby leaving it for some set of individuals, hence the need to sensitize them to have attitudinal change.
Reverend Father Akingbade pointed out that it was the duty of every citizen to exercise their franchise by deciding who would govern them.
During the road walk which was taken to Ijigbo, Oja Oba, Okeyinmi, Okesa and Fajuyi areas of the state capital, traders, road users and passersby were sensitized to participate in elections and stop selling their votes.
