…receives APC  Deputy Governorship Candidate Amidst Funfair

It was a carnival like in Ikere Ekiti as the running mate of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State, Chief Monisade Afuye, moved round the community to canvass votes.

The acceptance was impressive as people of different ages trooped out in large number chanting praises of the candidate and her party

The supporters promised to vote in support of APC during the forthcoming poll.

Addressing the crowd the APC Deputy Governorship candidate expressed hope of victory at the poll with a promise that the administration will consolidate on the achievements of the incumbent,  Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Commenting on the large turn out of the people that joined the rally from African Comprehensive High School, Ikere, down to the town centre, she said, the people all came from Ikere. “It’s not that we hired or cajoled people from somewhere else”. Said Afuye.

“What we are witnessing today is the work of God, that of our dear Governor, His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi and his beautiful wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, for choosing me to be the running mate of the next Governor of Ekiti State, Hon. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. “I believe by the time we all cast our votes in June 18, it will all be victorious for our Party. So that we can consolidate on the achievements of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi”.

Princess Monisade Afuye, who said the rally which was organized by the leaders of the party in Ikere-Ekiti, was to officially welcome her as BAO’s running mate and to let people know that APC remains the only party that can win election in Ekiti State, explained that governorship position though, is meant for only one person but opened to several people to contest.

She called on the people of Ikere-Ekiti, to come out massively on the day of the election to vote for APC, just as she advised all members of the party to go and work in their units, wards and their various local governments.

The Rt. Honourable Speaker of  Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, in his own description of the rally said, according to Law, the facts speak for themselves. “I can say the crowd here today is a referendum of approval for the candidate of our party whose deputy hails from Ikere”.

“We have come to let the people know that she has followers and that we are going to win the election. The Speaker, urged the people of Ikere Ekiti  not only to vote right but also to vote for continuity by voting for a government that is not deceiving the people.

The Commissioner for Trade and Investments in Ekiti State, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, said, everybody knows that APC is the party to beat as far as the forthcoming governorship election is concerned.

According to him, “we are in the forefront. Apart from being the party in power, we are still the party that is closest to people. We are the party that has done more in terms of development and wellbeing for the people. It’s a obvious choice that APC is going to win the election”.

The Commissioner, called on Ekiti people to stick with APC and vote for the party, saying there’s a lot of noise from other political parties but no action.

Also, the former Chairman of APC in Ekiti, Chief Jide Awe, who led some other leaders of the party to Ikere, said APC is a party well rooted in the nooks and crannies of the State and that going by what the present administration is doing in the State as regards developmental projects including provision of welfare for the people of the State, APC would carry the day in all the local governments in Ekiti, come June 18, 2022.

“Part of our strategies is to meet the people at the unit level. Mobilisation has started. We are moving from one unit to the other. No longer the jamboree we used to do in the past”

He therefore, advised all Ekiti people to shun the idea of one party in four years. Adding that there should be continuity in the State in order to have stability. “If we move from Fayemi to Biodun of APC, there are lots of goodies in that than jumping from one party to the other every four four years. We appeal to Ekiti people to team up with us again this time around for the sake of stability. He concluded.

Other notable APC leaders at the rally were; Prof. Adio Folayan, Hon. Bisi Aloba, Hon. Gbenga Omole, Hon. Toyin Afolabi and host of others.
