Ekiti Govt Issues Stern Warning to Traffic Offenders, Introduces Technology

Heavy sanctions await offenders of traffic rules in Ekiti State as the state government says it will install technology devices to detect anybody that goes against trafic lights and other road signs.

The State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji stated this in Ado-Ekiti at the 2023 Sectoral Workshop organised by Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, for Special Marshal.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Kehinde Ajobiewe, who spoke on the theme of the workshop ‘Volunteerism in Road Safety Management: Limit and Possibility’ said the devices would be installed in strategic places.

The governor noted that the present administration would continue to prioritise the needs of officers of FRSC and Special Marshal for them to perform optimally and urged Nigerians to join officers of the corps to maintain sanity on the road to reduce crashes.

In his message at the workshop, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Dauda Alibiu frowned at the attitude of some motorists towards the officers of the corps while urging them to desist from any act that could cut their lives short.

According to him, Ekiti State Special Corps always demonstrate dodgeness and readiness whenever their services are needed.

The State Sector Commander therefore said road safety is collective responsibility and urged everyone to play their roles.

In his speech, Ekiti State Federal Road Safety Corps Commander, Mr Elijah Joseph commended the zeal of Ekiti State Special Marshal to complement the efforts of the Marshal to ensure that road users obey traffic rules in order to prevent crashes on the roads.

Also, the Coordinator of Special Marshal in Ekiti State, Dr Adedayo Olumuyiwa said members of the Special Marshal would put in more efforts and strategies to minimize road accidents in the country.

The Governor was later installed as Patron of special marshall in Ekiti State
