EKITI GOVERNMENT ORGANISES FREE MEDICAL CHECK UP FOR FARMERS

Declaring the exercise tagged “BAO Free Health Mission” open in Ado Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade commended the organiser of the programme, saying it would assist the farmers to know their health status before engaging in plants and animal production.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Babatope Ojo explained that the present administration led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji was commited to welfare of farmers to ensure bumper harvest and food security.

According to him, the present administration has invested a lot of money into agriculture through provision of soft loans to farmers, open of farm settlement roads, distribution of input and out put materials for farmers

The Commisioner charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the free medical check up and other opportunities provided by Government to improve on their health status and production.

Earlier, the Organiser of the Programme who the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Farm Settlement, Mr Temitope Adewole noted that the initiative was part of his personal convictions to complement the efforts of Governor Oyebanji towards improving the well-being of farmers in the state.

According to him, beneficiaries of the free medical mission were given free eye classes, drugs, as well as free blood and diabetes test.

Mr Adewole promised more of such programmes for Ekiti farmers, saying it would boost their moral and enhance productivity.

In their submissions, two of the beneficiaries, Mrs Bolanle Ekundayo and Solomon Adebayo appreciated the SSA for putting up the programme, saying it would give them opportunity to know their health condition before embarking on farming activities.

They therefore appealed to Governor Oyebanji to provide them more inputs and outputs material to give room for large production.
