EKITI GOVERNMENT ENDS AGE LONG FLOODING CHALLENGE IN ONALA, BALEMO, BOLUWADURO

…residents commend Governor Oyebanji prompt action

The age long flooding challenge of residents of Boluwaduro, Onala and Balemo communities Ado Ekiti has come to an end as the State government through state environmental protection Agency dredged rivers Elemi and Ofin located in the area.

The rivers have been sacking members of the communities during the rainny season as most of them normally vacate the communities during the period.

Speaking with newsmen when the State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Tosin Ajisafe Aluko led other officials of the ministry to the area, Chairmen of Boluwaduro Community, Ado Ekiti, Dr David Akindele and that of Onala Ado Ekiti, Mr Tijani Adebayo commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for deeming it fit to dredge the rivers, saying such would put an end to yearly flooding in the communities.

Like Oliver Twist, the residents equally used the opportunity to appeal to Governor Oyebanji to assist in installing street lights and construction of drainages to give room for free flow of water to the rivers.

In an interview, the State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Tosin Ajisafe Aluko said present administration embarked on the dredging to put an end to flooding in the areas, saying that of the Ekiti South west would continue, following the completion of such project in Ado.

It would be recalled that before the emergence of the present government, many lives and property had been loss to flooding that normally affected residents of Balemo, Onala and Boluwaduro in Ado Ekiti.
