EKITI COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTH ATTENDS NUJ CONGRESS, PLEADS WITH YOUTH TO SHUN PLANNED PROTEST

…urges Nigerians to embrace farming to boost food production

The Commissioner for Youth Department in Ekiti State, Mr. Gold Adesola has appealed to youths in the state and Nigeria at large to shun the planned Nationwide protest and settle for dialogue to resolve various agitations and differences.

Gold Adesola also appealed to Nigerians to embrace farming so as to ensure plenty of food in the country.

Adesola spoke on Wednesday when he attended the monthly Congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ekiti State Council, held at the Union’s Secretariat, Oke Oriomi, Ado Ekiti.

He noted that one of the major complaints in the society is hunger but said such could be addressed if everyone begin to farm no matter how small.

The Commissioner noted that it will be unjust to protest in Ekiti State considering the various programmes and policies of Governor Oyebanji which are targeted mostly at youth development and economic growth.

He noted that though, protest is the right of any citizens, the fear of government is the fact that it could be hijacked by some elements who are bent on causing problem at all cost just to discredit government.

Adesola urged youths to take advantage of the various entrepreneurship programme of government to make themselves self sufficient.

He sought the support of the media for the government of Biodun Oyebanji with a promise to also reciprocate such gesture.

In his remark, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi said the union would partner the Ministry of Youths to re-orientate youths on the need to embrace hard work and stop cutting corners to get rich.
