The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has praised the founder of Afe Babalola University and an elder statesman, for his important contributions to the building of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has authorized the airport to begin non-scheduled flight operations from December 13, 2024, to June 15, 2025, according to a letter from Oyebanji dated December 18. Additionally, he made a plea for Babalola’s ongoing assistance in achieving full commercial flight operation.

According to the governor’s “Letter of Appreciation,” which reporters in Ado Ekiti saw on Thursday, Babalola’s financial support was greatly appreciated, especially for the acquisition of vital equipment like the CVOR/DME navigational aids, control tower communications, and the building of the parking lot.

“I am pleased to formally express our heartfelt appreciation for the assistance you provided to the Ekiti State Government during the construction of the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport,” Oyebanji wrote, speaking on behalf of the government and good people of Ekiti State.

“I am happy to notify you that on December 11, 2024, we received NCAA approval to start non-scheduled fight operations for a period of six months, from December 13, 2024, to June 15, 2025.

“We are incredibly appreciative of your willingness to assist, and your financial contribution for the construction of the car pad, control tower communications equipment, and navigational aids (CVOR/DME) was crucial to the success.”

“Once more, I want to express my gratitude for your generosity, kindness, and dedication to our common passion and objectives of growth and prosperity for our beloved Ekiti State.”
