Ekiti 2022: Erelu Kemi Elebute tours Ado-Ekiti, pledges women, youth emancipation

By Precious Oham

The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, in Ekiti State, Erelu Kemi Elebute, described women and youth-centred programmes as her cardinal objectives of seeking the exalted position.

During her campaign tour in the state capital, Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday, Elebute attributed the huge support from Ekiti women as the catalyst for yearnings to have women in politics.

The ADP flag bearer dispelled any rift in her party, noting that her emergence will bring about industrial and business development in the state

Her words: “With their support for me, the whole world and the people of Ekiti State know that women support women. They sponsored themselves here in one uniform, in one accord that come June 18th 2022, they are ready to vote me to have their own in government.

“Irrespective of what happened within the party, we are waxing stronger everyday and we are prepared for the election. According to statistics in politics, it was noted that 60 to 70 percent of women in the world involve in politics. Both women and youth, we are coming out for them.

“As you can see they want to support their own and this is the time they want to back up their own to ensure we are ib government.

“We have pleaded with them that people want free and fair election. We will not fight but use our votes. People are ready to use their votes irrespective of what they want to do and they are ready to vote them out.

“My drive is passion to serve and that is why I put myself in for everybody. All our women, women emancipation, youth emancipation, women liberation in politics. Enough is enough and this is our time. I’m pleading with our men to support us too.

“We want to pay the pensioners, the only thing Ekiti rely on is salary. We want to create jobs. I am going to be the first governor to have industrial and business district in Ekiti State. I want to empower the youths, carry our women along in politics.”
